Hint: Use freshly shredded cheese instead of pre-shredded! Trust us, it makes a difference!

    Substitutions + Variations

    • Biscuit Mix: If you don't have biscuit mix, you can use a homemade biscuit mix recipe.
    • Cheddar Cheese: Use freshly shredded cheese instead of pre-shredded because it will melt better. Preshredded cheese has anti-caking additives added to keep the cheese from clumping in the bag, but that also means it doesn't melt as well.
    • Dry Mustard: If you don't have it, you can omit it.

Get creative with this no knead cheese bread:

    • Everything Bagel Seasoning: We think everything but the bagel seasoning would be a delicious substitution for the sesame seeds.
    • Spices: Add 1 teaspoon of garlic or onion powder. Try adding fresh or dried chives or other herbs.
    • Cheese: Substitute the cheddar cheese for pepper jack or Swiss. Go crazy and top with cheese too! Just keep an eye on the top so it doesn't burn.

    Top serving tip

We love to serve this bread with soup (like our beef stew) or even toasted with butter. It also makes a delicious sandwich!

    Storage

    • Storage - Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week and on the counter for 2 days.
    • Freezing - Freeze the entire cheddar cheese bread loaf or slice it up and separate each slice with parchment paper. Either way, be sure to freeze in an airtight container.
    • Reheating - This cheddar cheese quick bread is delicious toasted!
