Substitutions + Variations
- Biscuit Mix: If you don't have biscuit mix, you can use a homemade biscuit mix recipe.
- Cheddar Cheese: Use freshly shredded cheese instead of pre-shredded because it will melt better. Preshredded cheese has anti-caking additives added to keep the cheese from clumping in the bag, but that also means it doesn't melt as well.
- Dry Mustard: If you don't have it, you can omit it.
Get creative with this no knead cheese bread:
- Everything Bagel Seasoning: We think everything but the bagel seasoning would be a delicious substitution for the sesame seeds.
- Spices: Add 1 teaspoon of garlic or onion powder. Try adding fresh or dried chives or other herbs.
- Cheese: Substitute the cheddar cheese for pepper jack or Swiss. Go crazy and top with cheese too! Just keep an eye on the top so it doesn't burn.
